Cellier Champollion
interpreting the "Climats de Bourgogne"

Inspired by Jean-François Champollion, the first man to have deciphered hieroglyphs and considered the father of Egyptology, we combine precision and passion to interpret and decipher the specificities and subtleties of Bourgogne grape varieties.

History

Since 1973, our knowledge of Bourgogne terroirs and our historical relationships with winegrowers have allowed us, through the years, to access unique appellations.

In 2015, our winery moved to the street Jean-François Champollion in Beaune. We have equipped this site with high-performance installations to be able to detect all the subtle details of a great wine. Our selection of parcels and wines is extremely meticulous. We are very attentive, careful, and respectful on the vinification, aging and bottling of our wines.

Terroirs

Jean-François Champollion is a curious, precise and determined man who inspires us daily. Just like him, we show rigor and passion to decode the specificities and subtleties of Bourgogne’s terroirs and grape varieties Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The vines are cultivated with respect for the environment, “climats”, and traditional local methods. Interventions are limited in order to preserve the natural balance.

“We are everything to Bourgogne, and it is everything to us”, this is our motto inspired by Champollion who liked to say that he was everything to Egypt.

The writing

The Bourgogne vineyard is part of a heritage that only experts can translate with precision and therefore extract its richness and diversity.
The wine making, our writing, allows us to reveal the essence of these terroirs.

Each parcel, each vine and each grape is a hieroglyph, a letter, a sign composing the fascinating and complex Bourgogne. This diversity allows an endless interpretation at the origin of the huge richness of Bourgogne wines. Cellier Champollion shares this heritage and this knowledge inherited over the years through its gorgeous wines.
